The miracle of church is not in being surrounded by perfect people, or in never being offended, but in seeing those who have offended us and those who we have offended, come to Christ and be healed.
To see both the offender and the offended — we will most likely be on both ends at some point — healed and come together through Christ and be one is the true miracle and the goal of membership in Christ’s church.
“That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” John 17:21
“I say unto you, be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine.” D/C 38:27
Don’t give up going to church because someone has offended you. Press forward with a faith that Christ can heal your heart and the heart of the other person too. And who knows, when time has passed, sorry has been said and a hug given, your hearts may be knit together in a bond that you could have never achieved before.
The atonement is real. It really does heal. Let it work that miracle within you.
